Agriculture CAS congratulates Busia on increasing forest cover – Kenya News Agency

Chief Administrative Secretary of Agriculture Lawrence Omuhaka praised Busia County, especially Teso North Sub-County, for its efforts to increase its forest cover.
Omuhaka noted that the county is not doing very well in terms of forest cover, but more efforts are being made to change the situation.
“Teso North is good enough, but the lower part of the county, including Bunyala, Funyula and the lower part of Teso South, are not good enough, but if we continue like this the forest cover will increase,” he said. he declares.
He said the county has planted a total of 6,000 tree seedlings in this rainy season alone.
âToday we planted 1,000 tree seedlings,â he said, adding that an additional 5,000 seedlings were planted in the county on May 18 this year.
The official urged local residents to plant more trees to improve the environment, explaining that the trees will attract more rain.
Omuhaka revealed that a total of 400,000 tree seedlings have been planted across the country during this rainy season.
Busia County Commissioner John Korir also urged local residents to plant more trees, adding that this is the biggest legacy they can leave in life.
