Punjab police had defendant Sachin Thapan Bishnoi arrested in Azerbaijan, while the location of another defendant, Anmol Bishnoi, has been traced to Kenya. Both had fled India with fake passports a month before the murder took place on May 29.
A development official said Anmol and Sachin first fled to Nepal, from where they traveled to Dubai. “While Sachin moved to Azerbaijan, Anmol went to Canada and later moved to Kenya. Sachin was arrested in a fake passport case in Azerbaijan.
Punjab Police Director General Gaurav Yadav said that during an intelligence-based operation, Sachin Thapan was found by Punjab Police. “He had gone to Dubai using fake documents and with the support of Indian government central agencies, we tracked him down from Dubai to Azerbaijan. The legal process is ongoing there and we hope he will be very soon brought to India to face justice,” he added.
Mansa SSP Gaurav Toora, member of SIT, said Mansa Police are working quickly on the documents needed to bring Sachin Thapan to India and the full case will be prepared within a week. “We are also coordinating with central agencies to catch Anmol Bishnoi, whose location is in Kenya. A communication from the Ministry of External Affairs to the Punjab Police requested full details of the accused, his criminal history, his arrest warrants and his role in the Moose Wala case to expedite the extradition,” it said. -he declares.
SIT said Lawrence Bishnoi had, in a well-crafted plot to protect his brother Anmol and close associate Sachin, procured them fake passports. Passports were issued by the Regional Passport Office in Delhi.
