Comedian Kokoto appeals to Kenyans for financial help
Comedian Lawrence Gwako aka Kokoto Lijodi is asking for help from supporters to allow his son to undergo a bone marrow transplant.
Kokoto, who is known for his roles in Vioja Mahakamani, Hullabaloo and Daktari, said his 13-year-old son is battling sickle cell disease and needs urgent treatment.
“Currently, he is not attending classes as the spleen has grown and made his stomach grow. The condition had also caused him to have gallstones which are supposed to be removed by surgery,” Kokoto said.
The comedian said he needed around Sh625,000 at the moment and doctors advised him to take his son to India.
“During the last medical examination after the boy was admitted to MamaLucy Kibaki Hospital, the doctor recommended that he undergo surgery for the removal of the spleen and vaccination as well. The total cost will be around 625,275 Ksh. But it will only help for a while.
“We were advised to travel to India for Bone Marrow Transplant which helps up to 80% as he will be able to lead a normal life but as a carrier,” he shared.
Recently, comedian Akuku Danger, who is battling a similar illness, expressed his gratitude to his fans for their support during his hospital stay.
His bill was 823,000 shillings, but thanks to contributions from well-wishers, he exceeded his target.
“Our expectations were far exceeded. The payroll invoice is still in progress, do not hesitate to send your contribution. Thank you very much,” he wrote at the time.
