Here are Amsterdam’s leading female entrepreneurs to watch in 2022
Entrepreneurship is crucial for economic development and women have made a huge effort in recent years to be present in the world of entrepreneurship.
According to figures released by the Dutch chamber of commerce KVK on the occasion of International Women’s Day in 2021, the number of female entrepreneurs in the Netherlands has increased by 29% over the past five years.

Women make up 36% of the total number of entrepreneurs in the Netherlands, the report adds. Realizing this potential, the city of Amsterdam has actively started to invest in promoting female entrepreneurship.
Despite the many challenges women entrepreneurs face, many in the tech startup ecosystem, especially in Amsterdam, have avoided all disparities and come out with flying colors.
Here is a list of 10 female entrepreneurs to watch in 2022.
Ilona van Wegen
Founder of GetEase
Ilona van Wegen is the founder of GetEase, a platform dedicated to lifestyle services including massage, manicure, yoga, personal training, and more.
She is a results-driven sales and marketing leader renowned for her strategic thinking, business pragmatism and collaborative leadership.
Wegen started his career as Category Manager at Heineken and worked for various companies including CS Digital Media and BST Company. She spent 8 years of her career at Google in various roles. She is a member of the advisory board of Volumental and Adcombi.
Founder of The Gift Label
Lynn Burgman is the founder of The Gift Label, an Amsterdam-based lifestyle brand. Prior to founding The Gift Label, Burgman worked in a variety of departments including Sales (Blue Glory), Account Manager (DBM Bjorn Borg) and Agent/Distributor (Agence LYNN Fashion).
She founded the company out of a passion for creating products that are loved: creating products that are warm, original, well-designed, fun to buy, give and receive.
Fridah Ntarangwi – Kimathi
Founder of Zidicircle
Currently, Fridah Ntarangwi – Kimathi is the Managing Partner of Zidicircle, a platform that promotes inclusive entrepreneurship and financing for diaspora entrepreneurs and SMEs in Africa.
Ntarangwi – Kimathi has 16 years of experience in the financial sector ranging from entrepreneurial finance, impact investment management, crowdfunding, portfolio management, etc. She is a business coach and has helped several startups grow.
Founder of BitesWeLove
Marleen Basart is the founder and director of BitesWeLove, an Amsterdam startup that offers healthy nut-based snacks in six flavors packaged in bioplastic packaging.
Basart started his career as a category manager in one of the largest supermarkets in the Netherlands – Albert Heijn. Shortly after, she founded her first company FoodWeLove in 2012, before BitesWeLove in 2014.
She did her international Masters program from RSM Erasmus Universiteit and BSc from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
Founder of MentorJam
Estelle Roux is CEO and co-founder of Mentorjam, a cloud-based mentorship program delivery platform. Roux’s goal is to create diverse environments where people-centric cultures can thrive and flourish. She has over 23 years of international HR experience and has spent most of her career working in the FinTech, IT and banking industries. In 2017, she was nominated for a Woman in Tech award in the Diversity category.
Founder of HealthCurious
Robin Laird is the founder of Health Curious, a platform that offers tracking tools and lifestyle support for bariatric surgery patients. She has completed her MSc. Biochemistry and Biotechnology from the University of Amsterdam.
Laird is a model-turned-master biochemist and a certified health coach with the Institute of Integrative Nutrition,
She is also an alumnus of the University of Southern California and University College Amsterdam, where she received her undergraduate degrees in public relations and biomedical sciences.
Founder of Trickle
Roos Aduagyei is one of the co-founders of Trickle, a recruitment service that helps companies create a more diverse and inclusive workplace. In addition, she is a project manager for Hashtag Workmode, a platform that offers coworking spaces focused on women. She graduated in Media, Information and Communication at the University of Applied Sciences in Amsterdam.
Founder of Kosa.ai
Layla Li is co-founder and CEO of Kosa.ai, an automated responsible AI system that helps companies invest in their AI. Layla Li has lived in China, USA, Japan, UK, Netherlands and Kenya.
She is a full-stack developer, data scientist and data-driven global business strategist. She built her Saas machine learning products from scratch and successfully validated concepts with multiple clients.
Layla spent about three years working as a data scientist at Tesla before starting her business. Along with her technical background, she has work experience in social media marketing and business development, as well as a degree in fashion design.

Megaidi Pinas-Pieroelie is the founder of Borrow a Brand. Its mission is to provide European standard fashion rental. To make it a reality, she interrupted her career as a lawyer. She completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Amsterdam.
Founder of Minite
Micky Chen, founder of Minite, is a former Salesforce employee turned tech entrepreneur. She is passionate about helping the next generation succeed and making the world a better place through entrepreneurial endeavors. She is also a guest lecturer at the Rotterdam School of Management, where she obtained her BSc in International Business Administration.
