Accor is expanding its presence in East Africa with the opening of the first Mantis property in Kenya.

The Eco-Lodge Mantis Masai Mara is fast becoming a flagship establishment of the brand and the group, offering direct access to the Mara-Seregenti animal reserve.

Mantis was founded in 2000 by environmentalist Adrian Gardiner and offers a diverse collection of destinations around the world.

The group has partnered with Rakam Investment, a limited company engaged in investment, focusing on real estate since its inception in 2016, and which has developed commercial and residential properties in the greater Nairobi metropolitan area.

This partnership is the result of a call for tenders between international hotel companies.

A world leader in real estate and hospitality consulting services, JLL Hotels & Hospitality managed the competitive process.

Ann Rutere, Managing Director of Rakam Investment, said, “We are delighted to bring the Accor brand, Mantis, to one of the most distinct and exclusive locations in the Masai Mara.

“In addition to the uniqueness of the brand and its notoriety in the market, our confidence in this project comes from the emphasis on sustainability and preservation of the natural heritage offered by the expertise of Enonkishu Conservancy and Mantis in industry. “

Mantis Masai Mara Eco-Lodge will be strategically located in the Enonkishu Reserve, on the northern edge of the Mara-Serengeti Game Reserve, and will include 20 tented suites, a restaurant and bar, event space, sauna and a wellness center.

Paul Gardiner, Managing Director of Mantis Collection, said: “The Masai Mara is one of Africa’s most renowned wildlife and nature conservation areas, and we are delighted to offer our guests adventures that celebrate the culture of the region and stay true to the roots. safari.

“We will deliver new experiences that allow clients to make authentic connections with nature and people, while supporting sustainability, conservation and community empowerment and improvement – the foundational pillars of Mantis. “
