Nuffield Canada Opens Applications for Agricultural Scholarship Program

Applications for the Nuffield Canada Agricultural Scholarships 2023 are now open and the application deadline is June 30, 2022.
Aimed at mid-career Canadians with a passion for agriculture, the program is designed to accelerate their leadership development and then become influencers in their sectors.
“Agriculture” includes all forms of primary production, ie food, fibre, health care, biofuels, forestry and aquaculture. Beneficiaries can be from any sector of agriculture, i.e. producers, processing, governance, communications, etc. ; involved in any aspect, i.e. owners, managers, employees, administrators or bureaucrats; and all the philosophies of the industry, i.e. commercial, artisanal, organic, aboriginal, etc. The Nuffield Fellowship is a rural leadership program available to Canadian citizens involved in any aspect of agriculture. Participants will complete 10 weeks of self-directed international travel study to examine and research an agriculturally relevant question. They then write a report on the results of their research and make a presentation at the annual general meeting of Nuffield Canada. This $15,000 scholarship offers individuals a unique opportunity to: access the world’s most extensive food and agriculture network; achieve personal development through travel and study; and provide long-term benefits to Canadian farmers and producers, as well as the industry as a whole. Experience translates into personal and professional benefits, while adding value to Canadian agriculture as scholars assume positions of greater influence in their field. “The key to success in life and in business is continuous learning. Nuffield offers that opportunity to grow and learn, but more importantly, it introduces you to a network of amazing people who share the same passion,” says John Cote, 2019 Nuffield Canada Scholar from Saskatchewan and co-owner of Black Fox Farms & Distillery. . “Nuffield not only allows you to grow as an individual, but also allows your home team to benefit from the experience. By encouraging you to walk away from your business, you empower your team by your absence and by sharing your journey with them.
