President Samia sounds the changes of cabinet

Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan proceeded on Saturday, January 8, to a cabinet reshuffle that some commentators quickly qualified as a presidential list of new faithful.
Announcing the changes at the State House in Dar es Salaam, Chief Secretary Ambassador Hussein Kattanga said the president had made structural changes in three ministries.
The reshuffle comes days after President Samia noted that there will be a cabinet reshuffle in which she sidelines members who have set their sights on the 2025 general election.
The most notable absent from the new reshuffle are Minister of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements William Lukuvi, Minister of Industry and Commerce Kitila Mkumbo, Professor Palamagamba Kabudi of Constitution and Legal Affairs.
Also excluded is Geoffrey Mwambe, who was the Minister of Investment.
The new cabinet sees former CCM advertising secretary Nape Nauye return to the cabinet of the Ministry of Information, Communications and Information Technology (MICIT), while Ridhiwan Kikwete gets the green light as as Deputy Minister of Land, Housing and Human Settlements.
On the other hand, Hussein Bashe becomes Minister of Agriculture with Anthony Mavunde as deputy.
Professor Adolf Mkenda now becomes Minister of Education, Science and Technology.
The former Tanzanian High Commissioner to Kenya is also on the list of laureates, Dr Pindi Chana now becomes Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (Politics, Parliamentary Affairs, Labor, Youth, Employment and People with Disabilities).
The new Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry will now be headed by Dr Ashatu Kijaji with Exaud Kigahe as deputy.
Innocent Bashungwa becomes Minister of State at the Presidency (regional administration and local authorities) of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports.
Mohammed Mchengerwa now succeeds Bashungwa at the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports. Prior to assuming this new post, he was Minister in the Office of the President, Good Governance and Public Services in the Office of the Prime Minister.
On the other hand, Professor Joyce Ndalichako becomes Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office – Politics, Parliament, Labor, Employment, Youth and Disability.
Dr. Anjelina Mabula succeeds William Lukuvi in the Ministry of Land Development, Housing and Settlements while Jenister Mhagama has been transferred to the President’s Office for Good Governance and Public Services.
From the Home Office, George Simbachawene will now head the Department of Legal and Constitutional Affairs.
In the new changes, Jumanne Sagini was appointed Deputy Minister of Interior while Stephen Kiruswa was appointed Deputy Minister of Minerals and Atupele Mwakibete Deputy Minister of Transport.
The ministries of finance, defense, energy, tourism and foreign affairs remained unchanged.
In another development, Khamis Hamza Chilo was appointed deputy minister in the office of the vice president of trade union affairs and environment. Before taking on this new post, he was Deputy Minister of the Ministry of the Interior.
Mr. Hamad Chande has been appointed Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning.
“All those appointed will be sworn in on January 10, at State House Chamwino, Dodoma,” said Amb. Kattanga.
