Ruto Steps Up Coastal Campaigns » Capital News

Nairobi, Kenya, February 5- Vice President William Ruto on Saturday led the Kenya Kwanza Alliance brigade on a vote-hunting mission to the coastal city of Mombasa as he seeks to popularize the grouping.
Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi, Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula, Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya, Deputy Governor Fatuma Achani and other leaders allied with the alliance graced the event which s is held at Tononoka Field.
DP Ruto reiterated that this time Kenyans will not be voting for leaders who will be imposed on them, but for those who have their interests at heart.
Ruto added that Kenyan citizens have become wise enough and will not fall victim to the lies of politicians with no agenda.
“I want to say to our brothers (rivals), Kenyans will not vote for anyone’s puppet, Kenyans are now wiser than ever and will vote where they think their welfare will be considered,” Ruto said.
The leader of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party added that only Kenyans will decide what kind of leaders to elect.
He further called on Kenyans to protect their votes as if their lives depended on it in the August 9 elections.
“I want to appeal to all voters in the coastal region, that in the polls on August 9, do not gamble with your votes, do not vote without understanding where your vote is going,” he said.
DP Ruto again criticized the handshake deal between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, adding that since its inception, government opponents have continued to be targeted and frustrated.
“We refused the policy of deception. Those who entered into the handshake agreement told us that it was intended to bring peace. However, since the handshake, we have never had peace. Our leaders have been frustrated, many have been taken to court on fabricated charges, our party members have been expelled from various leadership positions which they rightfully obtained,” Ruto said.
He added that the Kenyan Kwanza Alliance will revolutionize the economy of the country from below once they take the leadership of the country.
He added that the priority of their program was to solve the youth unemployment crisis by allocating funds to the program.
The Kenya kwanza Alliance is expected to campaign in Vihiga on Sunday.
